1867 Royal Blackheath Golf Club 'The Photographic Medal' Won by Thomas Marsh
1867 "The Photographic Medal For 1867" Royal Blackheath Club Vi Et Arte Medal, Won By "Thomas Marsh, Score 135", Blue Ribbon, In Red Presentation Box, Excellent Overall Condition, Note: Thomas Marsh was the poet laureate for Royal Blackheath And in 1867 composed a poem demonstrating his love for golfing, "Hooray, Hooray, a golfing day!" The Photographic Society Medal is a scratch medal competition, followed by the first Wee dinner of the golfing year. Royal Blackheath is considered by many to be the oldest golf club in the world, established in 1608. Medal measures 1" x 1 1/2", length is 3 1/2" including ribbon. This bronze-plated medal is in excellent condition, with no hallmarks. With that being said we are not able to decipher the precious metal type it is composed of at this time, as to do so could possibly compromise the medal's integrity.
