Tony Lema & Gary Player Signed 1965 Piccadilly World Match Play Sheet
Both Gary Player and Tony Lema signed this 1965 Piccadilly World Match Play Sheet. Tony Lema was a great golfer and remembered by many as the 'life of the party', as his nickname 'Champagne' might indicate. Lema was experiencing much success in his career, and two years off of his Open Championship win, when he unexpectedly died in an airplane crash in 1966. Due to this unfortunate incident, Lema's signature is in relatively short supply and high demand. This signature is with The Black Knight, Gary Player's, signed to the right of their names on the match play bracket. Gary Player would square off with Lema in the first round of the semi-final of the tournament, overcoming a large 7 hole deficit to Lema and finishing him off on the 37th hole. The sheet is in excellent condition, with vertical and horizontal compacting folds that are customary of these pairing sheets that don't affect the signatures. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their FULL letter of authenticity #Z97568 will come with this lot.
