R. Forgan Long Nose Putter with Prince of Wales Feathers Head Stamp
Robert Forgan became 'By Appointment' club maker to HRH the Prince of Wales in 1863, and used the Prince's plume of three feathers as his mark until 1901. This club is marked with the small lettering "R.Forgan" above the Prince's plume trademark. Forgan's shop in St. Andrews went so far as to have the Prince of Wales plume displayed on their shop, and the Forgan name still remains in-bedded in the sidewalk where the shop resided. Complete with a large grip, this magnificent club is marked "R.Forgan & Son St. Andrews" on its shaft. A shaft stamped the same as the head is a strong indication that the shaft is original. Forgan's son Thomas became a partner in his father's business in 1883. Please see photos for determination of condition.
