1934 US Open at Merion Golf Club Saturday Final Round Ticket #5521 - Rare

As a tip of the cap to scarcity, 'Roger Gilchrist's Guide to Golf Collectibles' listed this ticket as "none known" in the revered price guide and industry reference tool. That checks out, as this is the only example of a green final round ticket from that Merion "Cricket Club"-hosted pre-WWII tournament in Ardmore, Pennsylvania that we have seen. Not just that, but it comes in great condition, with only a subtle slight crease noted for accuracy. The 1934 US Open was the first contested by the United States Golf Association at Merion and the first year that both Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson US Open debuts! The "Slammin' Spaniard" Olin Dutra came back from eight shots back to beat Gene Sarazen and claimed the Open title. For the 33-year-old it marked his second Major championship victory after having triumphed in the 1932 PGA Championship at Keller Golf Club.
