1929 OPEN Championship at Muirfield Official Wednesday Program - Walter Hagen Win

Here is an unlikely survivor from hallowed grounds of Muirfield in 1929, the site that week of Walter Hagen's second consecutive Open win and final major championship triumph. 'Champion Golfer of the Year' Walter Hagen successfully defended his 1928 title, six strokes ahead of runner-up Johnny Farrell. It was Hagen's fourth win at the Open and his then record eleventh major title. At age 36, Hagen played the tournament just twice more in 1933 and 1937. Six-time champion Harry Vardon, age 59, played the Open for the final time and missed the cut. Pages are intact and presents great for light brown covered 85+ year program from the Wednesday competition. As depicted in the accompanying lot photos, there is expected moderate wear throughout the covers and oxidation on the staples.
