Vintage George T. Plowman Golf Scene in Front of Cathedral Etching Signed by Artist
Artist George T Plowman (1869-1932) was born in Le Sueur, Minnesota and studied art and architecture in the Twin Cities. His emphasis on architecture is evident in his artwork, with a focus on perspective and precise building renderings. Plowman signed this golf scene depiction in pencil just below his work. The black and white etching is very detailed, using layering for texture and to produce the dark foreground that allows the bright middle-ground to stand out. There is a single gold flag towards the front of the piece, with golfers below the tree. It is matted and framed for a pleasing presentation. Frame measures 14 3/4" x 11 3/4"
