Personal Hand-Written Letter to Walter Hagen from His 1929 Caddy E. Hargraves
"...It only seems like yesterday since you won the open at Muirfield and I treasure the photographs of me carrying your clubs, and the memories of the Ryder Cup Team... - Yours E. Hargraves - Your Caddy 1929." Walter Hagen's final victory, of a then record 11 major championships, was the 1929 Open Championship at Muirfield in which he would win by six strokes over runner-up Johnny Farrell. It was a life changing experience for those that witnessed it, especially his caddy that had the best seat in the house. Hargraves later asks for Hagen's signature along with his book, explaining that he is not a hotel manager himself. This was sent to Walter Hagen Esquire c/o Detroit Athletic Club where he was working at the time. Caddy E. Hargraves mentions that he had been keeping up with Hagen in essence through their mutual acquaintance Henry Cotton. Rich in content is this one-of-a-kind piece.
