Oakmont Major Tournaments Display Flag - US Amateur, US Open, PGA, & Women's US Open
The site where everything changed, Oakmont, is on display in this lot via the embroidered course flag. Signed by both Nicklaus and Palmer, the historical significance of the 1962 US Open is on full display. Jack defeated Palmer in an 18-hole Sunday playoff that marked the beginning of their legendary rivalry. It was Jack's first professional win en route to 18 Major titles, four of which were Us Open titles. Palmer won the 1960 contest with the the amateur Nicklaus placing second. It's debatable that there isn't a more significant moment in golf history than the 18 hole playoff victory of Nicklaus over Palmer in the 1962 US Open at Oakmont. This flag includes each of the major winners and US Amateur victors that won at Oakmont, with the last listed being Dustin Johnson in 2016.
