Don Cherry's 1958 US Amateur Sectional Qualifying Round Low Scorer Sterling Medal - Metropolitan
Successful amateur and Walker Cup team member Don Cherry qualified for the 1958 US Amateur by posting the low score for the Metropolitan Sectional tournament round. Charles Coe claimed his second US Amateur title in 1958, defeating Tommy Aaron 5 & 4, in a field that included Jack Nicklaus, Deane Beman, Bobby Nichols, and many more. For his success in the sectional stage of the US Amateur Don Cherry received the medal which is offered in this lot. It is engraved on the reverse as follows:

This memento from Cherry's 1958 US Amateur sectional qualifying round measures 1 3/8" diameter. Sterling and The Robbins Co. hallmarks are found on the reverse.
