1927 US Open Championship at Oakmont CC Program Hardbound Version - Tommy Armour Winner
In 1927, the United States Golf Association brought their Championship to Oakmont Country Club, just outside Pittsburgh, PA for the first time. They found a course and area that fit their needs shall we say, to a tee. This favorite local of the U.S.G.A. played host to its ninth U.S. Open in 2016. The offered seldom seen program from the 1927 Championship is offered to you in this lot. The Hall of Famer Tommy Armour will always be remembered as the first U.S. Open Champion, in a long line, which includes Nicklaus and Hogan at Oakmont. The inaugural United States Open programs from Oakmont displays in good condition with very slight handling wear (please see photos), presenting a more-than-suitable cornerstone to form a collection of programs comprising 90 years of U.S. Open history made at Oakmont. The black hardcover is graced by the original recipient George Morse's name. A letter from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.
