Two Jack Nicklaus Signed Sports Illustrated Magazines - 1978 & 1980
Jack Nicklaus won this third and final Open championship at the 1978 contest held at St. Andrews. The win by only two strokes marked the fifteenth of his eighteen major championships. The victory also completed his third career grand slam. Defending champion Tom Watson was the 54 hole leader but couldn't hold on for the win, faltering back and finishing 6 strokes behind. His signature can be found in pen on the inside cover. In 1980, Nicklaus won at the US Open at Baltusrol and also set the scoring record of 272 at the tournament, including a first round 63. Both magazines are in original condition.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
