1838 Alexander McKeller the 'Cock of the Green' - Etchings by Edinburgh Miniature Painter John Kay
Offered here is the 1838 John Kay collection of etchings. Kay's first career as a barber didn't suit his fancy so he turned to making portraits and caricatures of the rich and poor Scotsmen alike. It is said that his depiction of Alexander McKeller is the best known sketch in golf's history. Offered here is his work, divided into four tomes for your perusal. All books come in good condition with a thick plastic protective sleeve on the cover. The spines are strong and the books present well as a whole.
Please note: This auction will end at 5:00pm EST on Sunday, June 17th, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. Still the lowest rate among major golf auction houses, there is a buyer's premium of 17.5% for all items. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
