1845 Edition 'Hoyles Games Improved' Book with Goff and other Games
Here we have the American 1845 version of "Hoyles Games Improved." Edmond Hoyle was an English writer who found his niche in teaching the rules and strategies of popular card games in his time. He published his works and his name became synonymous with rules for playing many card games, especially the phrase "According to Hoyle." This version contains instructions and rules for 'Goff' as well as Whist, Quadrille, Piquet, Quinze, Lansquenet, Pharo, Rouge et Noir, Cribbage, Matrimony, Cassino, Reversis, Put, Connexions, All Fours, Speculation, Pamlu, Brag, Backgammon, Draughts, Hazard, Chess, Cricket & Billiards, Tennis, and more. The pocket sized book comes in incredible condition for it's age, showing only slight age discoloration to the pages and some handwriting from previous owners.
Please note: Our bidders have spoken, and we have listened to their wishes. With that in mind, this auction will end at 5:00pm EST on Sunday, January 28th, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period.
Still the lowest rate among major golf auction houses, a buyer's premium of 17.5% for all items is now in effect. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
