1965 Spec Book from MacGregor
Toney Penna's drawings and hand notes for over 15 requirements ( including length, lie, loft, shaft, and grip) for over ninety models for the 1965 line. The famous Tommy Armour and Toney Penna woods, irons , wedges, and putters and models include the IM, 985, T693W, and Expediter.
In this auction we have several pieces of Toney Penna's prized design work which were highly sought after by amateur and professional players alike. Toney referred to many of these clubs as "Reference Clubs". The most perfect rendering of a model, these were used to compare a production club to its ideal. Toney frequently made prototypes, experiments , some were mass produced, some were left on the workbench. Many of his masterpieces were too costly or difficult to make , to be considered for mass production. One example is drivers with intricate face inserts, while beautiful, too many clubs would be rejected because the heads were easily ruined. These clubs are the best of the best, cream of the crop. Toney Penna handcrafted original pieces of art, many ONE of a kind.
Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on November 16th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
