Circa 1910 Stunning Miniature Vienna Bronze Golfer Made by Franz Bergman

Miniture in size at 2 5/8" tall, but packing a big punch in the world of golf collectibles is this circa 1910 Austrian bronze golf figure. Depicting a turn of the century player addressing the ball, this piece displays detail and clarity of work over its diminutive design. One of the cornerstones of figurine collectibles with golf themes. Franz Bergman was the owner of a Viennese foundry who produced numerous patinated and cold-painted bronze figures, including this scarcely seen golfer. 'Cold-painted bronze' refers to pieces cast in Vienna and then decorated in several layers with so-called dust paint. The know-how for the mix of this kind of paint has been lost, and the color was not fired hence 'cold painted'
