Bobby Jones' Peachtree Golf Club-Framed Photo "Of Thanks" to Designer Trent Jones, Sr
This 10 1/2" x 13" picture which has been framed to 19 1/2"x 22" by the elight 225 members of the Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia for presentation to Golf Hall Of Famer Robert Trent Jones,Sr. in recognition of his work as the course's architect. Bobby Jones sought out in the mid 1940's and commissioned the hot course designor Trent Jones, Sr. to build a course equal to or better then Augusta National. The course was opened in 1948 and immediately hailed as a masterpiece sending Trent Jones to the forefront of golf course architecture. Trent Jones wrote in retrospect of the moment, "Often it is difficult to pinpoint the event, the circumstance, that launches a career or at least accelerates it,"he added "For me the moment is relatively easy. Peachtree did it." This photo which hung in Robert Trent Jones' home until he passed in 2000 was a constant reminder of his accomplishment from a thankful membership at Peachtree. The attached engraved plaque on this one-of-a-kind keepsake reads :
