Ben Hogan B&W 16 x 20 Jules Alexander Signed Limited Edition #114/500 Suite of 12 Prints-Steve Jones Collection

The following are Jules Alexander's notes regarding each shot. "Hogan's ambition was to become the first man to win our national championship five times, and this explained why, at forty-six, he was in the starting field in the 1959 U.S. Open, which was held at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Westchester County, New York." The seldom seen size of 16x20 Ben Hogan photos, coupled with the fact they were Jules Alexander signed on each photo, makes this an integral piece for any collection. Limited edition out of only 500. This comes from the collection of Steve Jones who maintained these in pristine condition. No better previous home could these have come from then Jones' who credits Hogan as his inspiration in the '96 U.S. Open win, as Hogan had come back from physical injury to win at the U.S. Open at Oakland Hills in 1951 just as Steve Jones would accomplish a similar feat 25 years later at the same monstrous course. As a followup to that win Jones later in 1996 would be honored with the Ben Hogan Award by the United States Golf Association.

1. First Day. Opening Tee Shot, 1959 U.S. Open Winged Foot Golf Club
2. First Day. Second shot, fifth hole, a par 5
3. First day. Pitch from the rough. Fifth hole
4. First day. Lining up putt. Sixth hole
5. Third day. Fairway wood after rain delay
6. Third day. Considering the shot, sixteenth hole
7. Third day. The shot. Controlled power
8. On the practice tee, 1970 Westchester Classic
9. Alone on the green. Practice day, 1959 U.S. Open
10. 1970 Westchester Classic. Fourth hole. (I believe Hogan hit his tee shot up the left side each day and walked up the left side since it is the only fairly level part of the hole and afforded him less effort in walking this hilly par 4)
11. A study in power - one of my favorite shots. 1959 U.S. Open
12. The classic Hogan swing. Poetry in motion. 1959 U.S. Open 18th Hole

**THE STEVE JONES COLLECTION-- 8x PGA Winner & 1996 U.S. Open Champion**
We at The Golf Auction appreciate the opportunity to partner with the highly respected PGA Touring Professional Steve Jones in the auctioning of items from his collection of player badges, clubs, championship medals and mementos assembled over a PGA career which began in 1982 and spanned over the next 30 plus seasons on the regular and Champions Tours. This great run of golf at its highest level saw Jones five times finish in the yearly Top 40 of PGA earnings. His long successful career was highlighted by eight PGA Tour wins claimed at some of the most esteemed of Tour events which included the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, Canadian Open and of course his Major triumph at the 1996 United States Open. This victory which came at the famed, for its difficulty of play, Oakland Hills. This triumph saw Jones post a record setting winning score of 278. This championship winning score remains to this day the the lowest total posted at any of the six U.S. Open's and two Senior U.S. Open's held at the course Ben Hogan would call "The Monster" (with members of the champions at Oakland Hills club besides Jones including Hall of Famers Ralph Guldahl, Hogan, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus). Following the 1996 golf season, Jones also had the esteemed honor of being named the recipient of the Ben Hogan Award which is given annually by the Golf Writers Association of America to an individual who has continued to be active in golf despite a physical handicap or serious illness.
