Tiger Woods Personal Match Used 1997-Era Titleist Black with White Full Size Golf Bag

Last year Tiger Woods celebrated his 25th anniversary of the 1997 Masters Tournament. With Woods' commentary over highlights, viewers were left admiring the 21-year old's first Masters victory once again - this time in a new way. The bag shown extensively in the footage, toted by the legend in his own right Mike 'Fluff' Cowen, was the same design as the example in this lot containing a Tiger Woods used 1997-Era black Titleist Staff bag. While certainly not claiming it to be that bag this example, with numerous signs of welcomed wear throughout, was also put in play during Woods' magical rookie or sophomore 1996-1997 seasons. While Tiger signed a 5-year deal with Titleist when he turned professional in 1996 for $20M, this bag style only at the beginning of that run. Subtle changes occurred in late 1997-early 1998 to his bag. The white 'Titleist' script was substituted out for 'WOODS' around the top rim and a gold facsimile Tiger Woods signature also added to the large pocket below his uppercase embroidered name. While still intact, the permanent padding adhered inside to keep formation of the large pocket shows wear, along with blemishing such as the discoloration and spot staining of the white 'Titleist' threaded script on the small ball pocket, scraping on the metal ring for shoulder strap, and darkening of white diagonal side panels with the 'Titleist' running up and down. No matter how you look at this prize, be it Tiger's "rookie" or 1997 Masters style personal bag, Tiger Mania bidding will ensue. A letter of provenance accompanies this lot.
