'The Game of Golf' Vintage Golf Game Manufactured by J.H. Singer - New York
An aesthetically pleasing mid swing golf scene boasting vibrant color adorns this turn of the century 'The Game of Golf' box published by J.H. Singer of New York. The gentleman golfer is depicted clad in high socks and a hat accessorizing a red coat and nickers outfit in the foreground of a hole pin, trees and a house off in the distance. Once the box top is lifted the scenic game board is revealed, featuring a playing path that encompasses the clubhouse. Included is a a spinning arrow and four colored counters. The original directions of the 'Game of Golf' are printed on paper and included.
Toy and board game manufacturer J.H. Singer was one of the predominant companies in the crowded toy making industry in the late 1800's through early 1900's. The advancements of printing during this time gave Singer a way to polarize their games with children and adults alike, both drawn to the beauty of the the artist's work. The box measures 14 1/4" x 7 1/4."
