1960 PGA Championship Contestant Money Clip

In 1960 Jack Fleck facing a PGA championship field of 185 players shot 76-72 to advance through the 36 hole cut his next day score of 78, ironically the same as Ben Hogan in the third round saw both former major winners fail to advance past the 54 hole cut. The badge of contestants admittance that year for the PGA carried a color scheme featuring baby blue with green and gold enameling placed on the 1 ½” x 2 ½” money clip which carried engraving 1960 on its facing side. Fleck's money clip issued for the '60 event is offered here still retaining all it's original enamel. The reverse of this memento carries stampings of where these matches were contested "Firestone Country Club" "Akron,Ohio" and the date July 21-24. When found the remaining 1960 PGA contestants badges, from the original 185 issued to players, can often not be associated to any specific player. Adding extra value to this example is the known quantity of Jack Fleck and his status as a major winner of the 1955 U.S. Open.
