W. Dendy Sadler James Dobie Original signed Golf Print 1915 "A Little Practice" - Gifted to Bobby Jones
Following his grand slam success of 1930, Bobby Jones was gifted this work which hung in his Atlanta home until 1966 when it was gifted to his home decorater Mollie Whitehead Arch. Her Virginia Highlands (Atlanta area)friend Robert Savage and his wife were the next to receive this prized former Jones' possesion. It hung in Savage's widows home until 2005 when our consignor purchased it from the 96 year old women who was begrudgingly downsizing. The storied work which has seen a vast array of distiquished ownership on both sides of the Atlantic depicts a golfing gentleman who has pushed aside a crumpled rug to practice his putting stroke on the tiled floor of a grand panelled interior. His jacket lies on steps behind, with mirror reflecting chandelier to wall above; decanter of wine to right. Remarque of a boy-golfer wildly swinging his club at a ball below image; Printsellers' Association blindstamp lower left.
Deluxe frame measures 21" x 25", picture measures 9" x 13". There are numerous markings and notations, they are listed below:
