Vintage Unmarked Feathery Golf Ball
A classic, vintage unmarked Feathery golf ball that dates back to the late-1840s is available in this lot. Feathery golf balls were difficult to make, and took time and precision to make the balls, that were made of goose feathers wrapped in untanned bullhide or horsehide. The feathery ball period ranged from 1440-1848, an incredible amount of time as the game of golf changed dramatically during that time, just not the ball itself. Feathery golf balls' popularity didn't pick up until the 1600s, due to the difficulty in constructing the ball and the widespread acceptance of wooden balls for play. The unmarked feathery ball offered in this lot has maintained a good-excellent condition, showing no more than its expected ageing. Golf historians and golf ball collectors should perk up when they see a feathery ball offered in prime condition.
