Vintage Golf 'The Sand Bunker' Etching Signed in Pencil by Artist John R. Barclay

This offering is for the black and white etching "The Sand Bunker" that is done and signed by artist John R. Barclay. Directly below the impressive piece is his signature and the title written in pencil on the left and middle respectively. Barclay depicts an early golfer blasting his ball out of a pesky sand trap, with his caddy looking on. John Rankine Barclay was an esteemed Edinburgh artist and engraver that had a great deal of respect for the game of golf. Other pieces of his work could be found in the 'Golf Illustrated' publications in the early 1920's, likely around the same period this was done. Barclay lived from 1884 until 1962. "The Sand Bunker" will be a great addition to one's golf or specifically golf art collection. Image measures 11" x 11", and frame is 18" x 18". Very good condition. A letter of from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.
