Vintage 1800's Hickory Belgian Chole Club
This circa 1800's Chole club is certainly unlike any we've ever seen before. The elongated face would be for driving while the other curved/hooked end is for shots that need some loft. Golf is believed to have been derived from a game called “chole”, a form of hockey that started gaining popularity in Belgium in the middle of the 14th century. An extraordinary club with it's own very unique history, a sure conversation starter as part of any collection. Many claimed ages of Chole clubs are more recent than what is claimed, this resembles the older known examples. Offered here is one of only a few true antique Chole clubs that we have ever seen, with The Jaime Patino collection sold at Christies in 2012 having a chole club which bears close resemblance to.
