The triumvirate equivalent for four is quadrumvirate. Quadrumvirate is an extremely relevant quantifying term when describing this incredible original photo carrying strong time-period steel-tip fountain pen signatures of the three men of what is known as golf's 'Great Triumvirate' in Harry Vardon, J.H. Taylor and James Braid and joined by fellow Open Champion Ted Ray. Consciously placed just below the standing image of each golf luminary from the turn of the century.

This nearly too good to be true original sepia photo is crystal clear with each man depicted by the lensman holding their drivers at the tee box while enjoying a round. A wide range of value is scattered throughout this improbable photography and signature adorned composition of the foursome. From 1894 through 1914 these four golfers managed to win an incredible 17 Open Championships. While the Taylor, Braid and Ray signatures have been preserved in nearly unfathomable condition that would warrant a 9/10 in strength, the Harry Vardon signature has gotten a tic lighter from time, while the others remain very legible and dark. Matted and framed with burlwood 14" x 12". A letter of authenticity from JSA #XX95300 will accompany this lot.
