Tiger Woods Signed Sports Illustrated Magazine - Dec. 1997
Many financial publications and television pundits of a similar realm are proponents of having 10% of ones portfolio in collectibles. One area that has seen an immense return on investment over the last month is the first signed Michael Jordan Sports Illustrated cover as a pro, his third overall (December 10, 1984). This signed S.I. magazine boosted by ESPN's 'The Last Dance' documentary on Jordan went from a previous price tag of $1,500 to an astounding price of $5,702 in a just completed major sports auction. It is rumored the next ESPN documentary will focus on Tiger Woods. Should that be the case it is easy to connect the dots and see value in this lot. Offered here is Woods' first Sports Illustrated cover (October 28, 1996) signed clearly with a 10/10 autograph in black sharpie. From his rookie season on the PGA Tour, Tiger had just won his second of his first seven starts on Tour with a triumph at the Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Classic when this magazine was published. Free from blemishes this publication grades high on condition bearing only slight usage wear on the back to nitpick (see photos). Before even the first of 15 Majors was accomplished, Tiger appeared as a 20 year old on this earliest of his numerous covers of the sports worlds most respected magazine. Like 'The Last Dance' this lot is not to be missed. James Spence Authentication (JSA) full letter of authenticity #BB46559 comes with this lot.
