Tiger Woods Signed Heron Lakes 'Green-Back' Scorecard From 1993
Less than a week before Eldrick 'Tiger' Woods would compete at the 1993 US Junior Amateur at the Waverly Country Club in Portland Oregon, our still Northwestern-based consignor got word that the 17-year-old would be conducting a swing clinic at the local municipal Waverley CC. Our consignor had heard of Woods from friends of his in Southern California and chose to go to the clinic to see the young ball-striker. He then used this Heron Lakes 'Green-Back' scorecard to obtain Woods' flawless black sharpie signature with his patented 1993 formation. Like all teenagers, he changed along with his signature. It would get shorter before it got longer, evolving almost every year for the first two decades. Woods would go from Algebra class to signing autographs in the blink of an eye. His AJGA experience, including 8 American Junior Golf Association wins between 1991 and 1992, was paramount in his player development. Fast-forward two years and Tiger would claim victory in his first of three straight U.S. Am titles as an 18 year old. This scorecard is filled out in pencil on the verso, not affecting the presentation value. Interestingly enough, Tiger Woods still holds the course record of 64 on the Heron Lakes Great Blue Course - of course he does. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
