An astounding 15 strokes was the margin of victory for Tiger Woods at the 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach. It was a performance that no one had seen before that tournament or since. This tournament would be a sign of things to come and the first leg of his 'Tiger Slam.' Nicklaus' final US Open at a host site in which he was a two-time USGA winner at was even overshadowed by the performance of the young Woods.
