Thurman Munson 9 Iron - Golf Club from Baseball Legend

Offered in this lot is a unique opportunity to own a nine iron belonging to, and used by iconic New York Yankees catcher Thurman Munson. The Toney Penna model 9 iron with moderate use on the club face, originates from the estate of Munson as sold by his wife Diane. Engraved on the club is T. Munson and MVP 1976. In a far to short 11-year career, cut short by tragic plane, Thurman became the first Yankees captain since Lou Gehrig. His .302 average with 17 homers and 105 RBI as the heart and soul of "The Bronx Bombers" led his team to the American League title in 1976, and Thurman to the A.L. MVP. His familiar #15 has been retired by the New York organization, and he remains to this day one of the all-time favorite players in Yankees history.
