Multi-Signed Jack Fedigan's Pro-Am Tournament Honoring Claude Harmon

For one lucky bidder, I'm sure what has been a long quest can come to an end with this lot. The quest for the very elusive autograph of the 1948 Masters Champion, Claude Harmon. In the days when it was hard for a professional golfer to feed his family, Harmon paid the bills as one of the top teaching club pros anywhere and held two of the most prestigious Country Club Pro slots in the United States at Winged Foot outside New York City and ultra exclusive Seminole in Florida. Headed out of the South from the Winter season of 1948, Harmon (the ever precise iron player) stopped off at Augusta on his way North and won the Masters. The glory of the victory did not change him or tempt him to leave his two lucrative country club positions. The combination of two contributing factors have led to a very difficult autograph first Harmon spending little time on the regular PGA tour and secondly his early passing before Masters champion autographs became in vogue. This has led to a Masters champs signature which many veteran collectors have never even seen. In 1988 the Jack Fedigan Pro-Am which yearly would honor golf greats with a tournament involving their peers in Scottsdale, Arizona chose to honor Claude Harmon. His picture would appear on the advertising piece for the event. This piece has been autographed by several of the participants, but the overriding gem is the black sharpie signature of Harmon. Especially pleasing is the fact that this autograph is placed just above the image of Harmon (signed images almost do not exist), and secondly the signing occurs in a white space which could be made into a very nice cut autograph to addd Harmon's autograph to your existing Masters champs piece which I am sure is missing Claude. Here is a listing of known autographs on this framed piece.

1. Claude Harmon
2. Sam Snead
3. Doug Ford
4. Jack Burke
5. Jerry Barber
6. Lionel Herbert
7. Tommy Jacobs
8. Toney Penna
9. John Riggle
10. Johnny Pott
11. Mike Souchak
12. Johnny Bulla
13. Gardner Dickinson
14. Phil Harris

They all pale in comparison to the highly prized, key to any Masters collection signature of Claude Harmon. It is a Harmon, it really is, pinch yourself and start bidding. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature, and their letter of authenticity comes with this lot.

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on November 16th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
