Robert Simpson Long Nose Play Club - Shaft Stamp - Trevor Williamson Reproduction
Robert Simpson is one of the greatest club makers of all time. He arrived in Carnoustie in 1883 to take up the position of professional at the Dalhousie Golf Club, and, as well as attending to the needs of the members, was encouraged by the Club to further his activity in club making. This decision unleashed the talents of the most prolific, inventive and artistic club maker known. His design and manufacturing in his Carnoustie workshop changed the face of club making for all time. Here we have a reproduction long nose club that has been made by the grandson of Robert Simpson. It features the head stamp 'Simpson Carnoustie' which is a telltale sign that it was not by Robert Simpson. Measures 30 3/4" from end to top of whipping. Some restoration has been made.
