Robert Forgan Crown St. Andrews Driver

Robert Forgan was the nephew of Fife clubmaker Hugh Philp. Robert joined Philip in the clubmaking business in the year 1852. Forgan had great skill in working with and identifying quality wood for club-making. Forgan took over the business and employed his younger brother James to assist after his Uncle's death. In 1863 Forgan was appointed as clubmaker to the Prince of Wales and thereafter he stamped the Prince of Wales' crest on his clubs. When the prince became King Edward VII in 1901, Forgan's stamped changed to a crown. Here we have a driver made by Forgan that measures 37 1/4" from top of whipping to end and presents in good condition with original whipping and grip.
