Robert Floyd's 1996 Gator Pro-Am Winners Waterford Crystal Trophy
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Robert Floyd being handed this crystal and a season the talented amateur golfer Robert Floyd won't soon forget. In addition to capturing the 1996 Gator Pro-Am with alumni professional Andy Bean, Floyd was a semi-finalist in the US Amateur. Floyd would fall to fellow gator teammate Steve Scott, who then went on to lose to Tiger Woods in the final match. This trophy awarded to Floyd is crafted by industry leading fine crystal company Waterford, carefully adding the tournament name on the bowl front and center.
An All-American at University of Florida, Robert Floyd put the SEC and NCAA on notice during his time at the school winning tournaments such as the 1996 Gator Pro-Am. Robert Floyd was chosen by the American Junior Golf Association as co-player of the year for 1994, and was a semi-finalist in the U.S. Amateur. He paired with Dudley Hart to win the pro-am at the 1994 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and became a two-time All-American at the University of Florida in 1996 and 1997. Floyd played in 23 PGA Tour events from 1994 to 2009 making two cuts. Robert's longevity would allow him to play 15 years professionally. In 2008, he was one shot out of the lead at Pebble Beach, but he shot 74-76 on the weekend to tie for 48th place and pick up $15,264 - his largest purse on the PGA Tour.
