1922 US Open at Skokie CC Daily Ticket - First Ever Charged Admission - Only Known Example!

Before you is the only known example of the 1922 US Open ticket From the The first US Open that charged patrons for their tickets - a single $1! In only a matter of a couple years the price would double to $2 and the design would be more complex. Bobby Jones' US Open dominance would start - finishing runner-up to begin his incredible streak at the US Open. The early design is simplistic and unique, with the USGA Great Seal circle emblem inside the dimple golf ball illustration. This design has been located and photo matched in this lot, with the ticket in this lot next to a zoomed in look at the 1922 US Open ticket on a shirt in the gallery.

'Low Amateur' of 9-consecutive and runner up at the US Open, Bobby Jones would finish either first or second five times in a row at the USGA Tournament. Skokie Country Club history: "In 1922 Skokie was chosen to host the U. S. Open. Called the “National Open” at the time, a first-ever admission fee of $1 was charged. With the best golfers of the day including Walter Hagen, John Black and Bobby Jones, it drew 15,000 spectators, the largest crowd in Open history to that point." 2 1/4" x 4"
