Bobby (Arthur d'Arcy) Locke World Golf Hall of Fame Plaque
The crowning acheivement to a players career is induction into their sports hall of fame. No higher plateau can be reached, the zenith has been obtained. Bobby Locke came to the United States in 1947 and proceeded to win seven tournaments. When he won again in 1948 at the Chicago Victory Open by a record 16 shots, a resentment grew among American PGA players who were having their livelihood challenged by the player who can acclaim as the greatest putter ever to branish the flat stick. The following year, Locke was banned from the Tour. He continued to have great success in Europe, compiling an impressive four British Open titles in a nine year period from 1949-57. Locke won the Vardon trophy in 1946, 1950, and 1954 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1977. This detailed display of the man, is the twin to the one hanging in the World Golf Hall of Fame, and was presented to Locke at his induction ceremony. The plaque reads as follows:

Considered one of the greatest putters in golf history, Bobby Locke won more that 100 tournaments in his career on the links. He won the South African Amateur 1935, 1937; The South African Open 1935, 1937-40, 1946, 1950-51, 1955; The Irish Open 1938; New Zealand Open 1938; Canadian Open 1947; British Open 1949-50, 1952, 1957; Tam O'Shanter All-American Tournament 1950; French Open 1954; Dunlop Masters 1954; Swiss Open 1954. Locke was the leading money winner on the U.S. circuit in 1947 and won the Vardon Trophy in 1946, 1950, and 1954. Enshrined in the World Golf Hall of Fame August 23, 1977.
Measures 14" x 24". Bust measures 2" from board at furthest point. Weighs 11 pounds. A collectible of the highest measure, one that words can not justly describe what it means to the athlete who receives the grandest honor that can be bestowed on their careers work.
