Payne Stewart Signed 1991 US Open at Hazeltine National GC Yellow Screen Flag
The 1991 U.S. Open was the 91st U.S. Open, held June 13–17 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, a suburb southwest of Minneapolis. Payne Stewart defeated 1987 champion Scott Simpson in an 18-hole Monday playoff to win the first of his two U.S. Open titles. Stewart left his black sharpie signature on this flag from the 1991 edition of the Junes US Open at Hazeltine Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, as notated by the ink notation following the grommets along the left hand side. Midwesterner, Springfield, Missouri native Payne Stewart outlasted 1987 US champion Scott Simpson in an 18-hole Monday playoff in the Minneapolis suburb for his second major in the region (first outside of Chicago at Kemper Lakes) and first of his two U.S. Open titles. His playoff round of 75 would be two lower than Simpson's. A triumphant fist pump from Stewart donning a red and white striped NFL Super Bowl shirt and one 'FORE' cleat off of the ground remains the memorable still from the tournament. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15-minute time period (at 10pm ET, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm ET
**If extended bidding goes pass midnight ET, The Golf Auction reserves the right to close the auction at any time. We recommend bidders place their maximum bids prior to that time. Thank you**
