Near Mint USGA 1934 National Women's Championship Ticket

An outstanding piece of golf history is presented here in this 1934 ticket to the National Women's Golf Championship. The tournament would be won by American amateur Virginia Van Wie, completing the final leg of her 3 consecutive U.S. Women's Amateurs from 1932-1934. Van Wie became a household name in 1932 when she beat Glenna Collett for the first of her three national amateur titles. Upon claiming her final championship in 1934, and based on her performance for the entire year, Van Wie earned the honor 1934 Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year. While being proclaimed the "First Lady of Golf" and on top of the women's golfing world, Van Wie retired in 1935 without defending her title. In 1950, she was inducted into the Women's Golf Hall of Fame.
