In 1932, Augusta National Golf Club Beautification Committee proposed concentrating at each hole, a
massed profusion of a distinctive variety of trees or plants that bloom through
the season. This allowed each of the eighteen golf holes to be recognized
and remembered, at least in part, by reason of their surrounding
beauty and coloring
