Mamie Eisenhower Signed Typed Letter to Bobby Jones on White House Letterhead
Presented here is a typed letter signed by First Lady of the United States Mamie Eisenhower. The Eisenhower's were married from 1916 until Dwight's death in 1969. Mamie's style and outgoing manner often impressed and delighted foreign dignitaries. The letter reads as follows:
"May 6, 1955
Dear Bobby,
It was wonderful to hear from you, and I like your new letterhead, although it makes me sad that you are no longer with us.
I am sorry that you have been bothered with a throat infection, and I can sympathize with you all too well. I do hope you are fedeling better, and please do take card of yourself.
Thank you for the xxxxx's -- they are just what I needed to perk up my morale! I am really much better, but as you know, it takes a while to regain one's strength after such a bout with "the bug."
Ike joins me in very best love to you,
Mamie Doud Eisenhower"
President Eisenhower was a member at Augusta National, presumably often getting to chat with the legendary Bobby Jones.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
