Lot of Two Course Logo Balls Signed by Frank Stranahan from PGA Wins

Frank Stranahan turned in his second amazing stroke-play triumph over America's top golf professionals when he won the PGA's 1946 Kansas City Open. This triumph earned him these newspaper laurels, "When it comes to hitching four hot cards together at seventy-two holes medal play, this boy Stranahan is the nearest thing to Bobby Jones that amateur golf has produced since 1930". He scorched Kansas City's Hillcrest course for a 14-under par 274 besting a field that included Byron Nelson, Lloyd Mangrum, Sam Snead, Lawson Little and Ben Hogan to name a few of the top pro's Frank out-gunned. Stranhan did it again to the PGA pros again in '46. This time it was probably the most interesting of his six Tour wins. Byron Nelson posted a record setting 11 straight PGA wins in 1945, and followed it up with six more wins as the season neared a close in 1946. He decided that it was time to hang up the clubs and retire to farming his Texas ranch. He would make the October '46 Forth Worth Invitational his last Tour event. The tournament was played at Glen Garden Country Club, the course where he and Ben Hogan grew up, as caddies, Nelson for sure, in his mind, planned to end his illustrious career with one final triumph on his home course among friends. Enter his old pupil from Inverness Country Club in Toledo, Frank Stranahan. All the 24 year old amateur, Stranahan, did was go out and fire a pair of five under 66's on the first two days coasting from there to a four day total 14-under-par 270 and a two stroke victory over not only all the amateurs but also defeating Nelson and all of his fellow pros which included Demaret, Keiser, Runyan, Mangrum and Hogan. We offer course logo balls from Hill crest and Glen Garden sites of Stranahan's two 1946 PGA Tour wins. These have each been autographed in black sharpie with full name signatures, Frank R. Stranahan. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed these autographs, and their letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
