Lothianburn Golf Club Vintage Scorecard
This 6" x 5" scorecard dating to the 1920's comes from the Lothianburn Golf Club of Edinburgh, Scotland which was founded in 1893. The course presented on this scorecard was layed out by Hall of Famer James Braid in the 1920's. The hilly parkland/moorland course was 900 feet above sea level at its highest point. Braid's well-know feature of doglegs are seen on the fourth and fifth holes as classic examples of Braid's design work. Period score card shows time gone-by golf trends of the 20's that included scoring area for "stymies" and advertisement for both "plus-four golf suits for men and ladies golf suits". Other advertisement on scorecard which lends to a different world then what we are accustomed today include coal merchant and chimney sweeper. A look back to the way Scottish golf was at the turn of the 1900's.
