Lee Trevino is known as the "The Merry Mex" and "Supermex." He was struck by lightning at the 1975 Western Open, and suffered injuries to his spine. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1981. He won multiple majors including: the U.S. Open (1968 and 1971); The Open Championship (1971 and 1972); The PGA Championship(1974 and 1984).

Patty Berg (February 13, 1918 – September 10, 2006)won the 1941 and 1943 Women's Western Open. She has sixty LPGA Tour wins.

Bruce Crampton has 14 career wins on the PGA Tour between 1961 and 1975 and was runner up in four major championships.
