The first ever professional golf tournament in Atlanta, Georgia was contested March 9-11, 1934 when the Atlanta Metropolitan Open was held at Bobby Jones' home course East Lake Country Club. This event was contested two weeks before the first Masters would be held in Augusta, Georgia just across the state. Ky Laffoon, who had his best year in 1934, would win the event. Over the year he would also win the Eastern, The Hershey, and Glens Falls. His fine season led to his place on the 1935 Ryder Cup team. Offered here from the Atlanta event is an ornate scalloped edge ticket #1194 which still retains it's original gold attachment string. The ticket has heavy surface creasing to both the front and reverse sides. On reverse of ticket is advertising for Spalding Bobby Jones Clubs. The Ad proclaims that the 1933 U.S. Open, U.S. Amateur and Canadian were won by contestants using Bobby Jones irons. Early pro golf ticket from the days when Bobby Jones was the endorsement king.
