Circa 1860-1880 Tom Morris Long Nosed Play Club Beech with 'T. Morris' Head Stamp

A Tom Morris Philp style long nose play club circa 1860-1880 is available to bidders in this lot. The head of the club is stamped 'T.MORRIS' legibly in the dark stained wood crown. The club's grip is worn but firm and the hosel is in very good condition. It features a leather face and a ram's horn insert in the sole that is somewhat warped, creating slight separation. It was produced with the time period splice neck and has a St Andrews bend. This club bears the father of golf's name and would be an excellent addition to any collection. After he passed, his nephew Robert Forgan carried on the family business. It is 44" from the top of the grip to the bottom of the heel. The head is 1 1/4" thick, 1 3/4" wide, 4" long.
