1995 Masters Awarded Eagle Hole #13 Crystal Highball Glass - Mark Calcavecchia

Along with other traditions such as the Crystal Vase for the low score of the day, Hole-In-One, and a Double Eagle; the Steuben Crystal Highball Glasses are given to a competitor who succeeds in scoring an eagle on any one of the holes at Augusta National during the Masters Tournament. This tradition dates to the 1954 tournament, when the Augusta National presented these glasses of achievement for the first time. Over The Golf Auction's ten years of business we have only offered eight of these highly collectible awards. This also marks the third time we have had a crystal award from the 13th hole (breakdown of previous eight by hole #2 (2), #13 (2), #14 (1), #15 (3). Offered here for consideration is Mark Calcavecchia's crystal highball glass in near mint condition, with all etchings on glass well preserved, in similar fashion to the day it was presented at the 1995 Masters Tournament. Calcavecchia made an eagle in '95 on the 13th hole at Augusta, "Azalea". It measures 6 1/2" tall. As a companion piece, the most recent Masters Eagle crystal award was offered in our 2018 June auction and sold for $2,985. The Calcavecchia family will be donating a portion of the proceeds from this auction item to the hurricane Dorian relief efforts.

Mark Calcavecchia Collection:
The 1989 ‘Champion Golfer of the Year’ was none other that 4-time US Ryder Cup Team Member and perennial top PGA Tour player, Mark Calcavecchia. As a testament to Calcavecchia’s easy going personality after the 1989 Open Championship in Royal Troon he told a member of the press that he wasn’t aware of the tournament’s playoff format and jokingly asked “How’s my name going to fit on that thing?” He of course was referring to the Claret Jug. A Florida native since 1973, Calcavecchia has been in the spotlight numerous times in his career, with big wins and a runner up finish in the 1988 Masters Tournament.

The Golf Auction is proud to offer personal items from the collection of 13-time PGA Tour winner Mark Calcavecchia’s, representing some of his greatest achievements on the course.
