'The Gate to Golf' by J. Douglas Edgar Special Edition
'The Gate to Golf' by J. Douglas Edgar - Originally published in 1920, this 1982 version comes in a gift box. Edgar, an occasionally brilliant but often erratic player who died mysteriously in 1921 at the age of 35, was the pioneer of the method of hitting the ball he referred to as `from inside out.' He was the French Open winner in 1914 and Canadian Open Champ in 1919. The book is based on this ' from inside out' theory, which has slowly become accepted as sound and common practice today. Edgar was the hitting mentor for Tommy Armour. This box is in good condition, with the book enclosed in excellent condition.
The Golf Auction will be on site this Tuesday through Sunday (July 31st - August 4th) at the 2019 National Sports Collectors Convention in Rosemont, Il. We will be accepting consignments, performing appraisals, and accepting bids. Stop by and say hello! We will be in Booth #1018
AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, August 4th with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
