Bill Campbell's 1967 Ontario Amateur Champion Blue Blazer - Ontario Golf Association
Offered here for bidders is Bill Campbell's champion's jacket from the 1967 Ontario Amateur. The jacket was made by Robert. A. Kopp and remains in good condition, showing some age spots. 1967 was the first year they competed in stroke play format at the Ontario Amateur, and Campbell's first round 70 helped him earn the title at London Hunt Golf Club.
THE BILL CAMPBELL COLLECTION
The Golf Auction is honored to offer items from the Bill Campbell Collection. Bill served our country in the Army during World War II and had the intellect to make it to Princeton where he played collegiate golf and earned a degree in history. Bill played in an astounding 37 US Amateurs and from 1941 until 1977 competed in 33 consecutive US Amateurs. Bill earned his US Amateur title in 1964 on his 21st try at Canterbury Golf Club 1 up over Edgar M. Tutwiler. Campbell competed on 8 Walker Cup teams (posting an 11-4-3 record!), 15 US Opens, and 18 Masters Tournaments. After countless amateur achievements, Campbell moved to executive positions with the USGA, serving on the Executive Committee, serving as the treasurer, the vice-president, and finally becoming USGA President and Captain of the Royal & Ancient, only the third American to hold that title and the first to hold both titles at one time. Rightfully so, Campbell was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1990, after a long career of service to the game of golf. We are please to present mementos from the Bill Campbell collection to our bidders worldwide and further spread his love for the game for years to come.
AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, May 19th, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
