1921 US Open Trophy Presentation at Columbia Country Club to Champion Jim Barnes by President Harding Framed - Original
"A remarkable brand of golf by playing with the most implicit confidence and coolness," local newspaper writer R. McCallum said in observation of Barnes after winning the 1921 US Open by an astounding nine strokes. Warren G. Harding was in attendance for the final round on that Friday afternoon and gave Barnes the US Open trophy and medal that day. Here is a framed presentation of that moment. Long have presidents been involved in the game of golf. Harding died just two years after the start of his presidency and this event took place. This tournament marked Jim Barnes' third major and he would go on to win a total of times on the PGA Tour, including the first two PGA Championships in 1916 & 1919, the US Open in 1921, and the Open Championship in 1925. This piece is framed to not take any attention away from the picture itself. AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, June 16th (Father's Day) with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
