R. Forgan Wood Shafted Bulger Wood with Prince Of Wales Crown Stamp

An excellent example of a 1890s vintage hickory club is offered in this lot. Robert Forgan became 'By Appointment' club maker to HRH the Prince of Wales in 1863, and used the Prince's plume of three feathers as his mark until 1901. This club is marked with the small lettering "R.Forgan" above the Prince's plume trademark. Forgan's shop in St. Andrews went so far as to have the Prince of Wales plume displayed on their shop, and the Forgan name still remains embedded in the sidewalk where the shop resided. A Robert Forgan & Son hickory Bulger driver with a 'R. Forgan & Son St. Andrews' shaft stamp and Prince of Wales Crown Stamp is offered here. Also stamped on the shaft is "John Wisden & Co. - 21 Cranbourn St London". 'R. Forgan' is stamped on the head of the club. This hickory club is in good condition, as evidenced in the photos. Full brass sole plate, lead weight, leather grip, and is in fine condition with some wear. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
