1905 Original 'Mice at Play' Pen And Ink Golf Illustration for PUCK Magazine Signed by J.S. Pughe
Signed by J. S. Pughe, July 26, 1905. Image measures 21" x 13". Framed and matted, the frame measures 30" x 23". Slightly soiled, but remains in excellent condition. Puck was America’s first successful humor magazine, which is to say it was long-lived (1876-1918), influential, and quite prosperous. Later they were increasingly purely comic or illustrative. In addition to that, Puck became a training ground for a generation of cartoonists, including its founder, Joseph Keppler, and great talents such as J. S. Pughe. The star artist, Pughe, would however die young in 1909 at 38. With his original works remaining prized to this day. Authenticity paperwork for this illustration comes from PGA Reach who have consigned this piece.

AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, March 3rd, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
